The EGU Education Committee is delighted to announce the next GIFT Workshop in Vienna starting on Sunday, 27 April, to Wednesday, 30 April 2025.

GIFT (Geosciences Information for Teachers) with presentations by renowned scientists and hands-on activities will take place during the EGU General Assembly 2025, with about 90 participating teachers from all over Europe and beyond.

The topic of GIFT 2025 is 'Exploring the Sea Floor’.

ESTA's annual conference, this year hosted by Liverpool University with the theme "Addressing Global Challenges", began this afternoon with a brilliant lecture from Peter Burgess, professor of sedimentary geology at the university.

We are sad to report the passing of Professor Gilbert Kelling OBE, Emeritus Professor of Sedimentology and Marine Geology at Keele University. He died in Royal Stoke University Hospital on 17th August, aged 90.
